מרגע שחצינו את נהר הצ’ורו דרומה עברנו את הגבול הדרומי של הרי הקצ’קר. לאחר שעזבנו את אגם טורטום המשכנו עוד על הכביש לאורך נהר הטורטם ואחרי עצירת תדלוק פנינו ימינה - לכיוון צפון מערב - ועלינו על דרך הררית המטפסת אל רכס בדרך לנקודת תצפית ליד פסגת הר בסביבות 3000 מטר. שם צפינו על הנוף המרהיב, מדרום רואים את רמת אנטליה ומצפון רכס הקצ’קר ממלא את האופק כולם הצטלמו בנקודה זו ומנקודה זו המשכנו מעט ברגל למתוח קצת את הרגליים. הדרך הזו מובילה אותנו לאיספיר (שיושבת על נהר הצ’ורו) אך לפני כן עצרנו לפיקניק. באיספיר עצרנו לסיבוב קטן ונכנסו לכמה חנויות לקניית פירוט מיובשים, דבש ומוצרים מבסוססים על מוצרים אלה. שם אחד מבעלי החנויות גילה עניין רב במרינה. מאיספיר עלינו צפונה לאיקיזדרה דרך מעבר הרים בגובה 2600 מטר. בדרך עצרנו במושבת דבוראים ליד הכביש המושבה נעה לאורך הכביש הזה לכיוון מעבר ההרים בקיץ ומתיישבת במספר נקודות, בחורף היא יורדת חזרה לכיוון איספיר והכוונה להיות תמיד במרחק הנכון מקו הפשרת השלגים בצדו הדרומי של הרכס - מעיין רדיפה אחר אביב מתמיד - בשיא החורף הם ליד איספיר לחודשיים שהם כמעט ללא פריחה עם פעילות דבורים רדומה ואיטית. למעבר ההרים אנו מגיעים בדימדומים וירדים לראות את הנוף, העננים שהביאו גשם מלטפים את הרכס כאן וממלאים את המעבר. מעט אחרי מעבר ההרים אנו מגיעים למלון ג’נסיס, שם התברר שנתנו את החדרים שלנו לאחרים וששמרו לנו מקומות במלון אגודת המורים בתוך איקיזדרה במקום, וזה לא הכל - את ארוחת הערב אנו אוכלים בג’נסיס והיות וזאת לא הוזמנה בלון אגודת המורים ומכיוון שהמלון מלא לא היו שולנות פנויים בשבילינו אז היינו צריכם להמתין. נצלנו את ההמתנה לסדרת שעשועים במלון ולאחר ארוחת ערב בג’נסיס חזרנו לדולמושים לנסיעה למלון באיקיזדרה. We left lake Tortum and after a break to gas up the vans, we turned right - heading northwest - up an unpaved mountain road on our way to Ispir. We climbed the road to about 3000 meters on our way to a lookout point just below an unnamed peak. The view was terrific, we saw the central massif of Anatolia to the south and the Kachkar mountain range filled the horizon when looking north. We all took our photos there and continued a short distance on foot to stretch our legs. We then continued on to Ispir (on the Choruh river), breaking for a picnic luncheon on the way. At Ispir we had a short stop, we visited some shops, a disproportionate number sold dried fruit or honey or both as well as products based on these ingredients. We also had one store owner showing a lot of interest in Marina. From Ispir we headed across the Kachkar mountains through a 2600 meter pass, on the way we stopped at a itinerant bee keepers colony, these bee keepers and there beehives migrate up the road from Ispir in summer and back down it in winter, keeping their distance from the snow line in an effort to capture an “eternal spring of blooming flowers”; during the heart of winter they are near Ispir for about two months during which their bees are almost dormant. It starts raining and we dash back to our vans that take us through the mountain pass where we stop to see the view. We arrive there just as dusk settles, we get out of the vans to see the view and see the clouds that bring the rain caressing the Kachkar mountain ridge and filling up the mountain pass. A short distance beyond the pass we reach our hotel “Genesis” where we find out that our rooms were given to other visitors - rooms were booked for us at the Teacher’s Association Hotel - on the other hand dinner was still to be provided by the “Genesis”. Since it was full up, that meant we would have to wait since the dining room was also full up. We used the time to entertain ourselves with party games. After dinner we got back in the Vans for a short drive to our hotel in Ikizdere
